2K has announced the release date for PGA Tour 2K25, following the recent reveal of the golfers gracing the cover art, and the tee time is sooner than golfers think. Previously titled The Golf Club, 2K and Maximum Games released three entries under the original title, before rebranding to PGA Tour 2K in 2020. HB Studios has been the developer behind each installment, and the golf sports simulation game is one of the most popular among golfing gamers. It’s been three years since 2K23’s release, and some gamers would prefer sports games to follow PGA Tour 2K’s release schedule instead of launching a new game every year, like EA Sports FC’s pattern.

PGA Tour 2K25 revealed the stunning cover art on January 13, teeing up the release date announcement, and fans are happy to see the legendary Tiger Woods return alongside Max Homa and Matt Fitzpatrick. In response to the announced release date, and the accompanying 30-second trailer, fans agreed the graphics were an improvement from 2K23, and others considered the date reveal a late Christmas present. 2K also confirmed in the comments section that Majors will be available to play, despite the absence of fan-favorite Augusta National because of EA’s exclusivity rights.
The video games community is losing two EA titles this January, including one of the last remaining PGA Tour games on modern consoles. Rory McIlroy PGA Tour is the 23rd entry in the franchise, independent of the 2K series, and its servers are due to shut down on January 16, 2025. This means players will no longer be able to platinum the game, as some achievements are online-based, but thankfully, the hype around the new installment of PGA Tour 2K keeps the crowd entertained.
